Viruses
under construction:
Hello and welcome to virus safety. There's even more training to be had here. I'd be sorry, but the experiments you can do after viral transfection are really cool, so it's worth it. For virus work you must be added as an experimenter to the official protocol filed with the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) before starting work on your own. Therefore: plan ahead.
Start at the page, or IBC, here. There's training material and slides from the most recent Biosafety talk given at Brandeis. Read them, and sign yourself up for the next talk. They're given about once a semester. Other than going to this talk, there are no special certifications for virus work, it's all one-on-one training.
You might want to get a couple more CITI modules under your belt.
Schedule some one-on-one time with Jenn. She'll work with you on and off for a week, probably.
Finally, when you're trained, we'll add you to the IBC protocol. Yay!
Let's add some papers here.
